How Our Puppy Process Works

It starts with a conversation—not a wall of forms. We want you to be able to ask questions and get to know us first.

Start With a Conversation

Call or text us. Tell us what you’re looking for, ask questions and let us help you get to know the puppies.

Short Application

When you’re ready to move forward, we’ll have you complete our short and simple puppy application.

Schedule a Visit

Come to Hard Run Acres and spend some time with the puppy or puppies you’re interested in.

Reserve at 4+ Weeks

Once puppies reach four weeks old, families may reserve their puppy with a refundable deposit.

Come Back & Visit

Reserved a younger puppy? Our Grow With Me Program lets you come back for visits while your puppy grows.

Go Home Around 8 Weeks

Once your puppy is ready, you’ll complete the paperwork and take your new family member home.

We do offer discounts on our older puppies. If a puppy is over 12 weeks old, you are welcome to come meet and view the puppy. If you decide he or she is the right fit for your family, you can place a deposit to hold the puppy while we schedule an appointment with our veterinarian for any additional age-appropriate vaccinations. Once those are completed, your puppy will be ready to go home with you.

Take your time, ask questions and choose the puppy that feels like the right fit for your family.

Grow With Me Program

Reserve a young puppy and come back for visits while your puppy grows and gets ready for go-home day.

No Shipping

We do not ship our puppies. Families meet their puppy here at Hard Run Acres and take them home in person.

Refundable Deposits

Deposits on our puppies are refundable, giving families greater peace of mind when reserving a puppy.

We’re Still Here

Our relationship doesn’t end at pickup. We’re here to answer questions and help after your puppy goes home.

There is no deposit or fee to join our waiting list. Because of this, it is very important that you keep an eye on your text messages and respond promptly when we contact you. We work our way through the waiting list in order, so being responsive is the best way to make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to choose your puppy when your turn comes.

All who have been out to the farm understand we want to be convinced “you got this” and that you understand what it takes, and the work involved, in taking a living creature into your life. This should never be done on a whim. We do our best to help you be thoughtful about your choices and offer any advice that might make it easier to make your choice. The online application is designed to cover the basics, but we are still going to enjoy our visit once you get here to the farm.  READ More
