About Our Breeds

Golden Retrievers are well known for their friendly, affectionate, and dependable personalities. They are intelligent dogs that generally enjoy learning and working with their owners, which is one reason Goldens have been successful as family companions, service dogs, therapy dogs, hunting companions, and working dogs.
Goldens are typically social and enjoy being included in family activities. They tend to be playful and energetic when young and require regular exercise, but they are also known for their gentle and loving nature. Their eagerness to interact with people and willingness to learn can make training very rewarding. For families wanting a larger, active companion with an affectionate and outgoing temperament, the Golden Retriever has a lot to offer.

Pugs are sturdy little companion dogs famous for their wrinkled faces, expressive eyes, and big personalities. They are generally affectionate, outgoing, playful, and extremely people-oriented. A Pug is often happiest when it is close to its family—whether playing, following someone through the house, or simply curling up beside them.
Although Pugs enjoy playing and can have hilarious bursts of energy, they generally don’t require the exercise level of many larger breeds. Their compact size and adaptable nature can make them a good choice for many households. Pugs are also well known for their sense of humor and ability to make their owners laugh. They were bred to be companions, and that heritage is still very evident in their personalities today.

The Shiba Inu is quite different from our other breeds. Shibas are intelligent, alert, athletic, and famously independent. Originally developed in Japan, they are a compact but sturdy breed with a distinctive fox-like appearance. They tend to be naturally clean dogs and are often very particular about themselves and their surroundings.
Shibas can be affectionate and deeply bonded to their families, but they are generally more independent than breeds such as Golden Retrievers or Pugs. They are intelligent enough to learn quickly but can also have definite opinions about whether they want to cooperate! Consistent training, early socialization, and secure fencing are particularly important with this breed. For someone who appreciates an intelligent dog with confidence, independence, and plenty of personality, the Shiba Inu can be an exceptionally rewarding companion.

As a true Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD), the Karakachan is very different from a traditional herding breed. Their job isn’t to move livestock—it’s to live with them, watch over them, and protect them from potential threats. They tend to be calm and observant when everything is as it should be, but they are naturally suspicious of unfamiliar animals, people, or activity around their territory. Karakachans are independent thinkers, and that independence is an important part of what makes them effective guardians. They need proper socialization, secure fencing, room to work, and an owner who understands that an LGD was bred to think and make decisions for itself.
With their own people, Karakachans can be incredibly loyal and affectionate, but they are not a breed that should be chosen simply because of their beautiful appearance. This is a working guardian with centuries of instinct behind it. When raised correctly and given a purpose, the Karakachan can become a dependable protector of the farm, forming strong bonds with both its family and the animals under its watch. For the right farm and the right owner, they are an impressive combination of courage, intelligence, loyalty, and natural guardian instinct.

Bugg — Boston Terrier × Pug
The Bugg combines two popular companion breeds—the Boston Terrier and the Pug. Because Buggs are a cross, their appearance and temperament can vary depending on which parent they favor. Many inherit the playful, lively personality of the Boston Terrier along with the affectionate, people-loving nature associated with the Pug.
Buggs are generally small, sturdy companion dogs with plenty of character. They can be playful and energetic one minute and perfectly happy relaxing with their family the next. Their expressive faces, entertaining personalities, and desire for human companionship are a big part of their appeal. For families who love qualities found in both Boston Terriers and Pugs, the Bugg can offer a wonderful combination of the two.
