Blue Copper Maran

A hen that seems to be all the rage at the moment is the French Black Copper Marans chicken. It’s a beautiful bird that lays extraordinary, dark, chocolate-colored eggs.

Although it has not been around that long (1900 or so), it has a fraught history with ups and downs and near extinction.
